Your Questions answered

Listed here are the most common questions that we as website creators are asked about potential pieces of work. have a look through each section to aquaint yourself with each of the sections that we have to offer you

Hosting & Domain Names

1) What is a web hosting?
Simply stated, 'web hosting' is storage space for a web domain. A domain name is a title used to identify your web site on the internet. When ordering hosting it is important to make sure that you accessed the needs of your website and planned your hosting accordingly, At Az-Tech we strive to make sure that you are sold the hosting you require and no more.

2) What is a control panel useful for?
Many of our web hosting plans come with "control panels" which are restricted areas of the web where the owner can configure settings for the account like email, passwords, databases, these can be configured by yourself at anytime allowing you full control and peace of mind.

3) If I purchase one plan, and decide I need something else, can I upgrade?
Yes, we strive to provide exactly what you need at any time and all our solutions have room to grow as your site does.

4) What happens if I exceed my monthly transfer or space limit?
If you go over the allowed data transfer, it simply warns us here and we suggest an upgrade. We would not charge your account without prior authorization.

5) Is a domain name included in my web hosting plan?
Your first domain name is included as part of the hosting pack but will be rebilled to you after its usual period of expiry where you will need to reregister it. I.e 1 year for .co.uk and 2 years for .com.

6) How do I get a domain name for my website?
Az-Tech can register any Domain name you require for you if it is available, or you can transfer any existing domain names you may have over to us.

7) What is the difference in the different domain extensions? (i.e. .com, .net, .ws, etc..) Is one more popular or right for my site?
Although anyone can use any domain extension they wish, there are specific meanings for domain extensions: .com = Commercial, .net = Network, .org = Non-profit organization, and so on. The .com is the most popular, but for personal use any extension is fine. It is totally acceptable for UK companies to use the .co.uk extension aswell as people have adjusted to this domain extension. The .net extension is especially desirable for Community based sites

8) How can I order a subdomain? How do subdomains work?
Subdomains are ordered just like regular domains. You do not have to register a subdomain with a domain registrar, this is useful if your website may have specialised subsections eg. sports.weartobuy.com or another subdomain may be swimming.weartobuy.com

9) What is an IP address?
Every computer on the Internet has a numeric address called IP-Address that is used to identify the location of the computer. An example of an IP address is 128.44.1.42. This addressing system is cumbersome and difficult to remember for humans. Having a domain name will eliminate the need to remember an IP address.

10) How long can a domain name be and what are the restrictions?
A domain can have a maximum of 26 characters including the extensions (.com, .net, etc). A domain name can contain numbers, letters or a dash. A domain can not start or end with a dash.

CMS

1) What exactly is a CMS?
A CMS is a Content Management System it means that you define areas of your website which are active, that you can change yourself, when eve you need to without having to call the webdesigners back in and pay costly hourly rates to fix small changes.

2) Why do I need a CMS?
A CMS places control back to you the owner of the site, without any html knowledge you can alter vital changes that crop up as a natural part of a websites life. If someone from the company moves on, you can edit tere details, update product information, add new news stories when they are released and update logos or maps, whenever the need arises.

3) Does everything change in a CMS.. can I alter everything?
Not quite. but during the construction Az-tech-E.com will sit with you and we shall work out the most likely areas to change in your business and we will then work the CMS around that allowing you the ability to change everything that we have planned may change in the life of your website.

E-commerce

1) How do I get my customers orders?
You are automatically emailed when an order is received on your site. This email contains all the order information except the customers card details. An exclusive address will also be included where you can view the card details with your browser.

2) Is there any limit to the size that my site can be or the number of products?
No, within reason. The number of products isnt capped by us, but an unusally high bandwidth requirement due to say downloadable products online or mass traffic may cause bandwidth issues that we will plan and adapt our hosting strategy together.

3) My site is being/has been designed by another Company, can I still use your e-commerce solution?
Yes, using Peppercart on your site will be significantly cheaper than having shopping cart software written and is very quick to add to an existing site. It has been done many times successfully already and Peppercart is flexible enough to adapt into the overall look and feel of your existing site with ease

4) We already accept credit cards - Can we take them over the Internet as well?
This is something that you should confirm with your merchant provider. Most providers have a different system for Internet transactions and will be able to advise you on what you need to do to obtain an Internet Merchant ID. Another option would be to look at the Internet Merchant services offered by WorldPay and other Online Credit Card Processing providers. We at Az-tech-E.com are registered development partners with WorldPay and can ease this process.

5) We don’t accept credit cards at the moment - What will we need to do?
There are a few options available here. You could either set-up a merchant account with your current bank and tell them that you want to take credit cards over the Internet. The other option would be to set-up an online merchant account with one of the large online merchants such as WorldPay.
